Kelis Launches ‘Feast’ Sauce Line

Kelis once sung that her milkshake brought all the boys to the yard, but what about her sauces? The certified saucier, who is a recent graduate from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary school, officially launched her own line of sauces, “Feast” this past weekend at the Beverly Hills Food & Wine Festival.

Kelis talked a bit about her sauce schooling in 2010 during an interview with the New York Times.

“I focused on being a saucier. Anything with a sauce involved, I flourished. I learned the basic French sauces like a beurre blanc or a bordelaise — really basic, classic French red and white sauces, but I would go off on my own.

“I spent a lot of time out of the country looking for new things to eat. I spent a summer in Malaysia and Bali and that region. I was in Penang, where everything is savory and sweet. I’d make beef and shrimp sauces infused with litchi. I started doing my own thing.”

Kelis also has a new single called “Rumble” on the way. The music video was shot earlier this month, but there’s no official release date for it yet.
