Allen Iverson to Finally Announce Retirement

Allen Iverson is reportedly getting ready to officially announce his retirement.

According to the report, Iverson, who has not played in the NBA since 2010, has decided to hang up his basketball shoes for good. The last time the 11-time All-Star played professionally was when he suited up for a team in Turkey in 2011.

A.I. averaged 26.7 points and 6.2 assists over his 14-year NBA career. He played the majority of his years with the Philadelphia 76ers, before making stops in Denver and Memphis.

“He might be the greatest athlete I’ve ever seen,” Larry Brown, Iverson’s coach from 1997-2003 said. “I don’t think there’ll be another one like him.”

Iverson was a No. 1 overall pick out of Georgetown. During his NBA career, he was the 1997 Rookie of the Year, the 2001 MVP, a four-time scoring champion and a three-time All-NBA First Team selection.

Iverson has solidified himself as one of the best Sixers players to ever suit up for the franchise. He also led the Sixers to the 2001 NBA Finals.
