Whale-Watching Gone Wrong: Kelly Rowland Rescued After 12 Hours Lost At Sea

Kelly Rowland proved she is and always will be a survivor after the private boat she was on was lost at sea for 12 hours while the small group was whale watching.

It was a close call for the R&B songstress who was having fun with friends off the shores of Provincetown, Mass.

The day of festivities started when Kelly and her pals boarded a private boat to catch a glimpse of whales. To better increase their chances of actually spotting one of the mammoths of the sea, the boat’s captain began following a larger commercial whale- watching vessel, but things did not go quite as according to plan.

While the smaller boat tagged behind, they eventually lost sight of the large whale- watching ship and were left stranded in the midst of violent waves and strong winds.

Reports suggest that the severe weather caused the boat’s captain to become “disoriented in the five-to-six-foot waves and fog that had rolled in,” according to an employee at Towboat US Provincetown.

It turned out that the group of five, including Rowland, were about 20 miles north of Provincetown.

Luckily, the captain managed to contact the Coast Guard who then directed Towboat US Provincetown to escort the ship back to shore.

The towboat found the group with perfect timing because just a few minutes after it   began leading them back to shore, the group’s boat broke down and had to be towed the rest of the way back to land.

What was supposed to be a quick trip out at sea turned into a 12-hour adventure and the ladies didn’t return to Provincetown until a few minutes after 10 p.m.

Despite what was probably a very frightening ordeal, all of the passengers were unharmed and still in good spirits after reaching land.

“They just wanted to get off the boat,” another Towboat US Provincetown employee said after describing the group as being “tired and thankful.”

Being the survivor she is, however, Kelly wasn’t going to let the mishap ruin her time.

Later her social media accounts were filled with fun photos of her out and about in Provincetown.

One picture showed the R&B songstress at The Little Red, a local shop with a sign proclaiming it  the “Best Store Ever,” that she posted to Instagram with a caption that read “Loving P-Town!!!! The happiest place on Earth!”
