Kanye West Unleashes Rant on Negative Celebrity Culture

Kanye West had more than a few things to get off his chest when he took the stage on Wednesday night at New York’s Roseland Ballroom. But the rapper certainly made two things clear: He doesn’t like the paparazzi and he “ain’t doing no (expletive)  SNL’ skits.”

West, who’s slated to perform during this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” season finale, was on hand as featured entertainment for the Adult Swim upfronts. But he used the stage to lash out at the paparazzi, among other things. According to Complex magazine, which posted some video from the TV industry event, Yeezy went on an expletive-filled tirade during his hourlong set.

“One thing about me, I’m the worst kinda … celebrity because all I do is make real music. All I do is sit in the studio and make real, real (expletive). And that’s it,” he said, half-singing. “That’s (expletive) it. That’s (expletive) it. So I don’t want nobody trying to run up on me with no cameras, trying to sell pictures and (expletive) to magazines, asking me no (expletive) questions, throwing me off of my focus and (expletive),” he continued. “Harassing you all (expletive) day. I ain’t no (expletive) celebrity.”

Over the last week, Yeezy has been snapped by photographers walking into a street sign and, days later , having trouble driving his Lamborghini through the gates at pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s house. And while many celebrities use SNL has a platform to poke fun at those types of situations, West made it clear that he won’t.

West said a friend asked him whether he planned to go on SNL and “do, like, a skit about the paparazzi and (expletive) and, like humanize yourself? ”

But Kanye’s response was simple: “I ain’t here to apologize to no (expletive), man. It ain’t about me humanizing myself. At what point did I become un-human where I had to turn myself back? Or maybe I was demonized. Or maybe I was treated inhumane and not human in that kind of situation,” he told the Big Apple crowd.

The rant continued with West arguing that he is not a celebrity, although the evidence may not support that, including the fact that he has been dating reality TV phenomenon Kardashian, currently one of the most-photographed celebrities and a tabloid staple, along with her family.

“I ain’t no (expletive) celebrity. I ain’t running for office. I ain’t kissing nobody’s (expletive) babies. I drop your baby and you sue me and (expletive),” he shouted. “I’m trying to make some music that inspires people to be the best they can be. I don’t want nobody to ask nothing else of me. Don’t ask nothing else of me. (Expletive) chasing you down, ’bout to make you crash and (expletive), and all they want is one (expletive)  to laugh and (expletive),” West said about the relentless paparazzi. “Hell nah, I ain’t doing no (expletive) ‘SNL’ skits; this my goddamn life. This ain’t no (expletive) joke. That’s it. Stop that (expletive) right there.”
