Fun Video: 'Wreck-It Ralph' Mockumentary 'Garlan Hulse'

To promote the DVD and Blu-Ray release of Wreck-It Ralph this week, Disney let loose this fake documentary on the Internet. In it, Wreck-It Ralph director Rich Moore rediscovers Garlan Hulse, the fictional former world record-holder for the high score in Fix-It Felix Jr., the arcade game which is the home of the eponymous Ralph in the film.

Garlan Hulse: Where Potential Lives takes a lot of cues from 2007’s The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, the incredible doc about arcade gaming and the battle for the Donkey Kong high score. What impresses me most about this vid, though, is its dedication to the joke. It’s not just some throwaway gag – it’s a full half-hour long! But it’s totally worth it to watch the whole thing, because it’s very, very funny. It’s also surprisingly dark and adult-directed for something meant to sell an all-things-considered pretty light kids’ film.
