Women From Around the World to Perform at Berklee Concert

More than 70 women will grace the stage at Boston’s Berklee Performance Center when Berklee’s Women Musicians Network presents its 16th annual concert on March 7. Female students from countries around the world – including Indonesia, Colombia, Lithuania, India, and Norway – will showcase their songwriting, arranging, performing, producing, and engineering talents in this popular concert. The show features 13 diverse acts ranging from big band and acoustic jazz to Balkan folk, rock, poetry, and 1950s Italian doo-wop.

The Women Musicians Network concert is open to all ages, and begins at 8:15 p.m., at the Berklee Performance Center, located at 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston. This year’s concert features two special guests, poet and social activist CD Collins, performing spoken word with a Berklee band, and the Berklee City Music Vocal Ensemble, directed by vocal instructor and alumna Annette Philip.

Other performers include Rachel McLean – who took part in last year’s show as a high school student under the City Music Program and is currently in her first year at Berklee; the Balkan Vocal Ensemble, Lindsay Kupser, Amit May Cohen, Siv Jakobsen and Maddie Rice, Tali Rubinstein, Tal Even-Tzur, Jihye Lee, Nina Ricci, Cristina Valente, the rock band, Flight of Fire, and more.
