‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Costume Redesign Unveiled Plus New Set Photos Follow.

Promotion for the sequel to Sony Pictures’ The Amazing Spider-Man seems to be ramping up while filming for the comic book movie continues in New York.

Just yesterday the studio released an official image portraying the redesigned Spider-Man costume. To the delight of fanboys, the redesign appears to draw more from the traditional suit featured in the Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s comic book creation.

Gone are the stylized “belt” line, sneaker boots, gloves, reflective eye shades in the mask and the basketball-texture. A smoother suit with big white eyes, a more pronounced insignia, and boots that blend seamlessly are among the most obvious changes made.

On the other hand, the blurry, unofficial set photos are not as much of a thrill. No new information can be drawn from them, other than a head to toe shot of the new Spider-man suit and a first look at Shailene Woodley with red hair as the rebooted Mary Jane Watson.

Unlike previous takes on the friendly neighborhood superhero, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is filming in New York, the original home of Peter Parker. There seems to be a theme of staying closer to the comic book material for this installment.

Besides Woodley’s Mary Jane, the upcoming sequel will reportedly see the introduction of Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), Rhino ( Paul Giamatti), and Electro (Jamie Foxx). It’s unclear what roles newcomers Felicity Jones and Colm Feore will play. It has also been reported that the storyline will set up a third film to round out a trilogy.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters on May 2, 2014. Check out the leaked production photos on the next page and let us know what you think about them…
