James McAvoy Talks 'Days of Future Past' and Patrick Stewart

James McAvoy recently voiced his woes concerning screen time with the legendary Patrick Stewart in the heavily anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past — or better yet, the lack thereof.

In a recent interview with Empire, James McAvoy discussed Patrick Stewart, working in a franchise like X-Men, and how it relates to his other work. When asked about working with Patrick Stewart — the man he shares the Charles Xavier role with in Days of Future Past — McAvoy was simultaneously positive and defeatist.

“It’ll be cool, but i don’t think we get any scenes together, sadly,” he said. “I don’t think there’s any future self talking to past self.”

James McAvoy has come quite a ways since appearing in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, starring in such movies as Atonement, Wanted, X-Men: First Class and the upcoming Danny Boyle film Trance. McAvoy has even been linked to the proposed remake of The Crow (please don’t let it happen). However, the young actor insists starring in the X-Men franchise remains the most cherished in the young actor’s career.

“Having X-Men in your back pocket, which will hopefully go for three movies, it makes you go, ‘Right, it doesn’t matter if I make 14 films that nobody sees.. because in two years’ time I’ll make another X-Men,” James McAvoy said. “Meanwhile, Fox are thinking, ‘Why isn’t this f**cker out there building his profile so he can make us more money on the second X-Men?’ But that’s their fault for hiring me!”

James McAvoy is set to appear alongside Peter Dinklage, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore (phew) in the upcoming prequel sequel directed by Bryan Singer. While X-Men: Days of Future Past isn’t slated for release until July 2014, something tells us that there’s still much more publicity to come.
