Bryan Singer Remains Candid About Nightcrawler & Storm

X-Men: Days of Future Past has already committed to bringing back some famous faces in the X-Men universe, but that doesn’t mean director Bryan Singer is quite ready to bring back two in particular — the beloved Nightcrawler and Storm.

Since last September, when Patrick Stewart announced to the world he would be reprising his role as Professor X, quite a few familiar have jumped onboard Bryan Singer’s follow up to X-Men: First ClassHugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore and Ellen Page have all committed to reprising their roles as various mutants, while the crew from First Class –James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence — remains wholly in tact. Who knew so many stars could be in a comic book movie that isn’t Sin City?

While a few questions remain unanswered for the likes of say, James Marsden and Famke Janssen, Alan Cumming has already explicitly stated he wished to reprise his role as Nightcrawler from X2. The Huffington Post went on the record to ask Bryan Singer about including the blue teleporting mutant in Days of Future Past.

“I don’t know. We’ll see. You know .. We’ll see,” Bryan Singer said. “Yeah, I know. I don’t want to.. sometimes you don’t want to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to something that may not be a ‘yes’ or a ‘no,’ or anything. I haven’t decided yet, a few things. I’m still, you know — there are certain aspects of the script that I’m still toying with.

Surprisingly, it was MTV who confronted Singer about Halle Berry reprising her role as Storm, who was rumored to be contacted by Singer’s production team with no publicized results. His answers remained equally cryptic and quizzical, as if the thought of including Storm did not even occur to him.

“I can’t say,” he said. “I don’t know yet. And it’s not necessarily a deal making aspect at all. I want to make sure it’ll make sense. But I love working with her.”

Fortunately, Bryan Singer has plenty of time to make sure X-Men: Days of Future Past not only makes sense, but delivers on all the star-power it has already gained. We’ll make sure to keep you updated.
