Return To 'Jurassic Park' As Steven Spielberg Produces

Universal announced on Friday that Steven Spielberg’s fourth installment of the 1993 hit dinosaur movie, Jurassic Park, will roar into theaters June 13, 2014.

Sadly, Spielberg will not be returning as the director for Jurassic Park 4, but he will be producing the movie alongside Frank Marshall. Universal has not decided on who they will pick to direct the film, which is set to play in 2D and 3D next summer.

The studio and Spielberg recently converted the original Jurassic Park in 3D for its re-release which will hit theaters April 5. Over the course of the first three movies, as a whole, they grossed close to $2 billions worldwide to date. The original film made $914 million by its lonesome.

Jurassic Park 4 will compete with other numerous film sequels such as How to Train Your Dragon and Transformers, which opens a few weeks after its release.  Both the final Hobbit and X-Men movies are set to play in July, while the next Spider-Man and Planet of the Apes opens in May.

Jurassic Park films are based on Michael Crichton’s novel and characters, the franchise has also got its own amusement park ride in Universal Studios Hollywood.
