George Lucas Engaged to Girlfriend of Six Years, Mellody Hobson

‘Star Wars’ creator George Lucas is finally engaged to his girlfriend of six years and successful business woman, Mellody Hobson.

It’s no secret that Lucas is rolling in cash thanks to his creation of the most popular science fiction film saga in decades, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to wine and dine a 20-year-old model or a reality star with no real claim to fame.

Lucas has decided to tie the knot and share his wealth with a woman who already had plenty of her own (we can only imagine what those marital bank accounts will look like).

Mellody Hobson is a successful and hard working 43-year-old businesswoman who serves on the board of directors for Hollywood Studio Dreamworks Animation SKG Inc, but the Ariel Investments LLC president didn’t stop there.

She also serves on the board of directors for the popular cosmetics company Estee Lauder Companies Inc, Internet coupon company Groupon Inc, and of course the most popular coffee house chain in the world Starbucks Corp.

In addition to all this she is also a financial contributor to ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

As for George Lucas, he rose to fame in 1971 while directing the science-fiction film “THX 1138” before finally launching “Star Wars” six years later in 1977.

The iconic sci-fi film has become one of the highest-grossing film franchises of all time and still holds second place for number of tickets sold domestically coming in just behind “Gone with the Wind.”

The successful film mogul was previously married to film editor Marcia Lucas (whose work includes “American Graffiti,” “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore”and“Taxi Driver”) back in 1969 and the couple remained together for 14 years.

The 69-year-old film director sold Lucasfilm along with the entire “Star Wars” franchise to Walt Disney Co back in November for a whopping $4.05 billion.

Now we’re all just waiting to see what kind of million dollar engagement ring Hobson will be blinding the paparazzi with.
