Manny Pacquiao’s Wife Wants Him To Hang Up Gloves

Manny Pacquiao’s knock out at the powerful right hand of Juan Manuel Marquez was so devastating that no only did Pacquiao lay unconscious on the canvas for several minutes, but his wife screamed and cried at the scary cite. Now she’s screaming that her husband call it a career.

Jinkee Pacquiao has seen enough and she said she cannot bear the notion of seeing Pacquiao face-first on the canvas, knocked out cold as he was Saturday night in Las Vegas.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen him like that, lying on the canvas, and I was scared,” she told USA Today Sports. She said she began screaming and crying, and was comforted by promoter Bob Arum.

Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KOs) has proven his stature with eight division championships over 17 years. That’s enough, according to his wife, who want the 33-year-old to retire now.

Manny Pacquiao was given a CT scan after the shocking knockout; the results were negative.

“I know he is still (capable) of fighting, but for me there is nothing to prove,” Jinkee Pacquiao told USA Today Sports. “He already has eight (title) belts. He can retire — stop — at any time. I want him to stop now. But he is the one who has the last say.”

In October, Pacquiao, whose busy life outside the ring includes being a congressman in the Philippines, received a contract extension with promoter Top Rank that will keep him with the company through the end of 2014.

“Boxers risk their lives; (some) end up in wheelchairs. I don’t want that to happen to Manny,” Jinkee Pacquiao told USA Today Sports.
