Kimora Lee Simmons Confirms Separation Rumors, Headed for Divorce?

Kimora Lee Simmons has spoken up to confirm the possible divorce from husband Djimon Hounsou and admitted that they have been separated for a long time.

Simmons and Hounsou have been together for more than five years, but just how much of that time they actually spent together is now up for debate.

Earlier this week rumors that the couple was headed for divorce surfaced and suggested that the BabyPhat designer was completely unaware of the turmoil in her relationship, but KiKi has revealed that that is far from the truth.

The 37-year-old Life in the Fab Lane reality star took to Twitter to let her fans and followers know that she and Djimon have been separated for longer than they may think, but they are still on good terms as friends and parents.

“There have been quite a few hurtful rumors circulating,” the mother of three tweeted. “The truth is Djimon + I have been separated for some time. We have remained happy, loving, co-parenting friends + family.”

Being in the Thanksgiving spirit she continued on to write, “We all have much to be thankful for. #HappyThanksgiving.”

She and the 48 year old actor and model never married in the U.S, but they do have a 3 year old son together by the name of Kenzo.

In addition the JustFab creative director has two daughters, 12 and 10, from her previous marriage with Russell Simmons.

Earlier this year the rumors about trouble in paradise started and suggested that a rift in the marriage was caused by financial issues.

Although the superstar couple was never pressed for cash, apparently there was “a big fight over money” after Russell decided to stop giving money to his ex wife.

At the time reps for both Kimora and Djimon made sure they stayed quiet about the marital issues until recently when KiKi’s rep confirmed the rumors about separation.

Other reports are saying that separation won’t be where the turmoil ends as Kimora’s husband was allegedly preparing to file for divorce – although the couple was only considered married in West Africa.
