Oprah Winfrey is among the big-name megastars who will be filling in for Robin Roberts on “Good Morning America” during her medical leave. Other interesting names include Chris Rock, Katie Couric, Barbara Walters and the cast of “Modern Family.”
It’s not clear how long Roberts will be out, but it’s expected to be at least several months. Roberts is battling the rare bone marrow disorder MDS.
During the show on Thursday, the second hour was devoted to her, with an announcement listing some of the people who will be filling in for her.
Clearly, ABC News is reaching into its stable for guest hosts such as Diane Sawyer, Amy Robach, Elisabeth Vargas, Katie Couric and Barbara Walters.
Other guests will include Kelly Ripa, Rob Lowe and Chris Rock.
Oprah’s stint will be particularly interesting because it sets up a healthy dose of morning-show competition, since her best friend, Gayle King, is one of the hosts of rival show “CBS This Morning.”
