Fake Reports of Chris Brown-Drake Boxing Match Abound

The melodrama around whether Chris Brown and Drake would fight for charity as a “grudge match” from their June melee in New York took another bizarre turn.

Apparently, someone has been masquerading as the promoter of the fight and providing details – even quotes from both sides representatives – about an upcoming bout.

Turns out, it’s a hoax. Real representatives for Brown and Drake dismissed the reports that suggest the rivals have agreed to accept $3.1 million to step into a boxing ring and duke it out.

The website HollyScoop.com released on Friday that the hip hop stars had agreed to “punch it out” during three one-minute rounds as part of a charity match at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas.

According to the report, the fight would be a “grudge match” following an infamous brawl between Brown and Drake’s entourages at the W.i.P nightclub in New York in June.

The website reported basketball player Tony Parker, whose eye was damaged in the fight and is currently suing the club, would – get this – referee the match on September 22.

It even quoted Drake’s rep as saying his client would “end it (fight) in two rounds.” Meanwhile, a source close to Brown simply told HollyScoop.com it would be “a great fight.”

All that, and the two stars’ publicists have urged fans not to be duped by the news and to not purchase tickets that reportedly go on sale this coming week.

Brown’s rep tells RumorFix.com, “This is a sad attempt at PR for the people who were/are promoting it.”

And a source close to Drake adds, “The story is false!”

The website has since reported promoter Damon Feldman has signed look-a-likes to step in and represent the two stars in the ring September 22. Feldman has reportedly offered Brown and Drake 3.1 million each to consider a fight.

At this point, who knows what to believe? Or even cares?
