Fox 2000 has recently hired Just Wright writer Michael Elliott to pen the script for Waiting to Exhale 2. The sequel will be based on author Terry McMillan’s book Getting To Happy.
The first movie was developed from McMillan’s book Waiting to Exhale. Waiting to Exhale, the film, was a 1995 romantic comedy-drama film which was directed by Forest Whitaker. The movie starred Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, Lela Rochon, Whitaker, Dennis Haysbert, Michael Beach, Gregory Hines, Donald Faison, and Mykelti Williamson.
Rumor has it that since Whitney Houston can’t reprise her role because of her death, the studio has been seeking Oprah Winfrey to fill her spot. Interesting, because Winfrey is a solid actress and I think she will fit right in. As for the rest of the original cast members, there haven’t been any indications of their returns as of yet.
