Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. Takes Medical Leave of Absence

The office of Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. released a statement saying the congressman has been on medical leave from congress for the last two weeks because of exhaustion.

Spokesman Frank Watkins said that Jackson went on medical leave June 10 but his congressional offices remain open for constituents.

Watkins told the LA Times he knew where the congressman was being treated but refused to disclose any more information, citing the family’s request to keep the location private.

“At the request of the family, we’re not saying where he is and literally everything I know beyond that is in the release,” he said.

The Chicago Congressman remains under investigation by a House Ethics Committee over allegations that longtime friend Raghuveer Nayak offered incarcerated former Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich almost $6 million in campaign money to give President Barack Obama’s vacated senate seat to Jackson.

Jackson has denied any involvement.
