BET has released a new promo video for their upcoming award show. The promotional piece features their Hollywood actor host Samuel L. Jackson. In the video, Jackson puts on a pink wing and showcases two four-finger rings that display the words “BET Awards” on them. The actor also rapped a few lyrics, to complete the replica of artist Nikki Minaj’s persona and music.
Jackson will host the BET awards show, which will give accolades to the best musicians, entertainers and athletes in 20 categories. “We are massively excited about having Sam Jackson, the world’s biggest box office star, host The BET Awards 12,” said Stephen G. Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, BET Networks in a statement. “His wit, presence and gigantic personality are the perfect match for our show.”
Kanye West has seven nominations, which gives him the most recognition this year. R&B singer Beyoncé came in a close second with six award nominations.
The BET awards will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, on July 1st.
