Meryl Streep Reclaims Miranda Priestly Role In 'Devil Wears Prada' Sequel

Meryl Streep reprises her role as Miranda Priestly in Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns.

After author Lauren Weisberger recently announced that she’s penning the follow-up to her 2003 best-seller The Devil Wears Prada, a great deal of speculation began to emerge about Meryl Streep returning to her role as cutthroat fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly.

If the sequel (currently being titled Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns) gets the big screen treatment, the three-time Oscar-winning actress has confirmed that she will likely sign on.

“But sure, I mean, I’d have to lose the f***ing weight, but yes. I guess I would do, I would do that, yeah,” exclaimed the actress in an interview with Access Hollywood.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the second installment takes place eight years after Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) leaves her job as the assistant to Streep’s verbally abusive character.

Sachs now works as editor of “The Plunge”, America’s hottest bridal magazine. As she plans her own wedding to a handsome media figure, she crosses paths with her contentious old boss. Revenge Wears Prada also brings back Sachs’ overbearing Runway magazine nemesis, Emily, now a co-worker at The Plunge.

Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns is set to hit bookshelves in April of 2013. There has been no official word on the book inspiring a film adaptation, however the overwhelming success of Devil Wears Prada – along with Meryl Streep looking forward to signing on means that it’s likely a go.
