Lebron James and Wade Too Much as Heat End Pacers Season

The Miami Heat, lead by 69 combined points from Lebron James and Dwyane Wade, beat the Indiana Pacers 105-93 last night to close out the series in Indianapolis. Wade was dominant throughout, scoring a game high 41 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.

The remarkable performance capped one of the greatest series by a duo in NBA history. With their team trailing 2-1 and power forward Chris Bosh still out with an abdominal strain, James and Wade took it upon themselves to will the Heat to victory.

“We understand that when Chris (Bosh) went out we had to step up,” Wade told reporters after the game. “The team looked to us to lead. We understand we couldn’t do things without their help. They helped guide us to the win.”

While their teammates did contribute, it was the overall dominance of James and Wade that in the end was too much for the young Pacers to overcome. James and Wade combined for 258 points in Miami’s four victories, an average of 64.5 points per victory. Compare that with the Pacers entire starting five, which averaged 63.2 for the six-game series.

“Chris Bosh is an awesome basketball player but when he goes down that just means more touches for LeBron and Wade and that’s not exactly an advantage,” said Pacers head coach Frank Vogel. “You’ve just got to give credit to those guys. They were spectacular this series and they were just too much for us.”

The Heat will meet the winner of the Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers series in the Eastern Conference Finals, their second consecutive trip to the finals. Last year they beat the Bulls in five games.
