Black fans of the NBA showed up in droves for the first round of the playoffs, but they weren’t at the arenas. According to Target Market News, black households represented 42 percent of the total viewership for the first round of the NBA playoffs.
With the majority of the games shown on TNT, the Atlanta-based network was the most watched cable network with 18.1 million viewers tuning in to 12 NBA games. BET was second with 5.1 million viewers for four shows, including the “BET Movie Of The Week “ titles. Meanwhile the two games on ESPN pulled in 2.5 million viewers.
