Brad Pitt Joins George Clooney In Prop 8 Play

Brad Pitt has joined the cast of Dustin Lance Black’s play, 8.

The Oscar nominee will play the role of United States District Chief Judge, Vaughn R. Walker.  Back in 2010, Walker overturned California’s gay marriage ban, ruling that Proposition 8 went against citizens’ constitutional rights.

Pitt adds to an already star-studded cast including, George Clooney, Martin Sheen, Christine Lahti, Jamie Lee Curtis, Matthew Morrison, Matt Bomer, Jane Lynch, Kevin Bacon, and John C. Reilly.

Both Clooney and Pitt have been longtime advocates of gay marriages.  Clooney has publicly stated his position on the matter saying equal gay rights is “the final leg of the civil rights movement.”  Pitt agrees.  A few years back, the Moneyball star mentioned that he and his partner, Angelina Jolie, made a pack that they wouldn’t get married until gays and lesbians are able to tie the knot nationwide as well.

“To be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous,” Pitt said to The Hollywood Reporter.

8 will show at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre on March 3, in Los Angeles, California.
