Beyonce, Tia Mowry, Chris Brown Gain 2012 NACCP Image Award Nod

Nominees for the 43rd NAACP Image Awards were announced live yesterday at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA. Vanessa Williams, Tracee Ellis Ross, Craig Robinson, and Corey Reynolds were on hand to announce the honors.

According to the website, the show’s aim is to “celebrate the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film, and also honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavor.”

New mother Beyonce was nominated four times for Best Music Video(“I Was Here”), Outstanding Song (“Best Thing I Never Had”), Outstanding Album (“4”) and Outstanding Female Artist alongside Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Ledisi, and Mary J. Blige.

Chris Brown is in good company in the Outstanding Male Artist category, he was nominated along with Anthony Hamilton, Bruno Mars, Ceelo Green and Common.

Meanwhile, Wendy Williams was nominated for outstanding talk show while The Game star Tia Mowry-Hardrict and sister Tamera Mowry- Housley received a nod for their reality show, aptly named “Tia & Tamera”. Tia got another nod with her “The Game” cast.

The Helps’ cast (in-part) Emma Stone, Viola Davis, and first-time Golden Globe Award winner Octavia Spencer are all nominated due to highly-proclaimed film.

ABC and CBS lead in the TV category with 18 and 16 nominations respectively, followed by BET and HBO tied with 15.

The winners will be announced during the two-hour event airing live on Friday, February 17 on NBC. A full list of nominees can be found on the NAACP Image Awards website.
