Savannah Brinson 'Excited, Happy' Over Lebron James Proposal

UPDATE-LeBron James is engaged to his girlfriend of eight years Savannah Brinson!!

The Miami Heat star celebrated his 27th birthday party and New Years Eve Saturday night in Miami where he reportedly got down on one knee and proposed to Savannah. James and his other NBA friends including Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were on hand for the celebration at Shelborne Hotel in South Beach.

Reportedly Dwyane Wade held on to the engagement ring until Lebron was ready to pop the question.

According to Bosh, who was apparently not in on the secret said of the engagement,

“I had no idea it was coming. I just heard some commotion, and yeah, there it was. It was nice. It was real cool.”

“It was beautiful,” added Chris. “I told him, ‘Good luck.’ It was nice. It was real nice.”

Dwyane had equally touching words, “It’s very nice. Very nice. They have good taste. … To me, it felt like he was on his knee for an hour. It was probably like 35 seconds. It was great. I feel so happy for them and their entire family.”

James who shares two sons with Savannah, 7-year old Lebron Jr and 4-year old Bryce, said his fiance is happy and excited after Sunday night’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats,

“My girl, she’s very excited,” James said. “She would love to answer more questions about it than me. But she’s happy, my family’s happy and that’s what it’s about.”

James and Savannah also received congratulations from their closest friends via Twitter:

Chris Paul who married Jada Crawley earlier this year tweeted:

“Happy for my brother @KingJames and sis @SavannahRB on their engagement!!! Extremely happy for them and the good times to come #HappyNewYear”

Lebron added that despite having talked about marriage in the past, Savannah was surprised.

“It should be a surprise for any woman anytime something like that happens,” James said. “She was surprised. It was great that all the friends and family were there to bring in a new year. Even my kids were happy about it, so that’s good. … I feel good. I feel good. It’s a good point in my life right now.”

2012 will be a great year for Savannah and Lebron – Congrats!!!
