Sandra Bullock Speaks On Returning To Acting After Jesse James Scandal

Sandra Bullock recently explained how she wasn’t sure if she was ready to start working again following the scandal surrounding her marriage to Jesse James, but later realized she had to move on with life.

“Painfully, you learn quickly in life that sometimes there are no answers and you learn to make peace with that, which is a lifelong struggle,” Bullock tells the Los Angeles Daily News.

The actress then spoke in regards to her upcoming film “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” having played a role in her decision to return to the big screen. She said, “Everywhere you turned there was great commitment to telling the story, and you don’t get that very often.”

“Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” is about a boy (Thomas Horn) who lost his father (Tom Hanks) in the September 11, 2011 tragedy. Bullock plays the child’s mother, who is affected by her son’s grief so much that she wishes she was the one who had been killed instead.

The Oscar award winning actress says she prepped for her part by listening to voicemail messages and phone calls from people trapped in the World Trade Center towers left for their families and friends.

“The last messages were so inspiring because somehow those who knew that their lives were going to end managed to leave hope and inspiration and kindness and calm for those that they were leaving the messages for. I didn’t understand it. I didn’t know how it could be done, but that last message would be something like, ‘You’ve been amazing. You’ve been a great husband or wife. I’ve never loved like that before. The kids are going to be amazing. It’s all going to be OK.’ The people who are dying were reassuring those who are going to be left behind,” says Bullock.

The film will hit theaters January 20, 2012.
