Mel Gibson and Robyn Gibson are officially divorced, and the actor’s ex-wife has been awarded half of his $900 million fortune.
The “Die Hard” star was married to the mother of seven of his children for close to 31 years. Since the couple didn’t have a prenuptial agreement, Robyn, who is 55 years old, is legally entitled to half of Mel’s past, present and future earnings.
Robyn filed for a divorce in April of 2009, citing “irreconcilable differences” as a reason for ending their marriage.
Mel Gibson has been going through some tough times lately. He is currently serving a three-year probation sentence for a battery charge, after a physical fight with his former girlfriend Oksana Grigoreiva, in 2010. That fiasco caused Gibson to have to settle with Grigorieva for joint custody of their two-year-old child and to have to fork out a hefty amount for child support.
Mel and Robyn were married in his native Australia in 1980, prior to his career.
Robyn has officially gone back to her maiden name, Moore.
