VH1 Divas stepped out yesterday evening at New York City’s famed Hammerstein Ballroom to celebrate an evening of soul which included an ever shrinking Jennifer Hudson who appeared unquestionably thinner in a short, taupe dress and thigh high boots.
After loosing more than 80lbs on the Weight Watchers program, Jennifer had no problem flaunting her shape during her musical performances and wardrobe changes at last nights celebration. There were rumors earlier this year that Hudson may have undergone gastric bypass surgery given the speed of her weight loss. However, Hudson quickly quieted those speculations claiming her loss was completely natural and largely due to Weight Watchers strict dieting programs. Nonetheless, Hudson appeared completely comfortable in her frame as she performed in a Tina Turner inspired, red bustier dress, and a full length, jeweled gown which sparkled as she serenaded the crowd.
In a recent interview with Ebony Magazine, Hudson described how she received harsh criticism and backlash after Joy Behar from the View allegedly heard Jennifer Hudson say she was a size zero. Hudson claimed these accusations were completely false by stating;
“I got crucified by I don’t know how many people who cussed me out because they said I’m putting out the wrong message and telling people to be a size zero.”
“I got called every name under the sun and was told, ‘You should be ashamed of yourself for talking about being that size.’ Well, honey, when I do say I’m that size, then give me that speech. I never said that.”
Other notable attendees included Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Jill Scott and Florence and The Machine.
Florence Welch (from Florence and The Machine) who paid tribute to late singer Amy Winehouse, stunned in a cream, embroidered dress and later wowed in a sparkling, gold gown as she performed barefoot for an adorning audience. Mary J. Blige kept it classic and angelic in all white, while Kelly Clarkson kept things spunky and youthful in and emerald green, form fitted number.
Later Kelly, Jennifer and Mary J. posed together prior to performing a smashing trio. All the ladies look fabulous yesterday evening and the event went off without a hitch. Congratulations to all the VH1 diva’s! Watch tonight at 9pm.
